What if you would like to pull your hair back to create an elegant hairdo but have no elastic? Problem can be solved if you have some bobby pins on hand. This easy twisted ponytail is right for you in this case.
Only with several bobby pins, you can create pretty stunning ponytail. Different from creating a standard ponytail, to create this twisted pony, twisting sections of your hair are needed to help your hair stay in place and a small braid to hold the pony, apart from pulling your hair back.
For me, it is a little bit dull if I wear this hairstyle with solid hair color. Therefore, I used to add colorful highlights to spice it up. To create a temporary highlights hair look, I always use colorful tape in hair extensions to do me a favor.
What You Need:
- Bobby pins
- Colorful hair extensions (If you want some)
- Curling Iron
Step 1: Start with curling your hair to add some texture to your hair. Twists will not hold very well in straight, soft and clean hair. Besides, using a sea salt spray or dry shampoo works well in adding in texture. You can skip this step if you have some texture in your hair.
Step 2: Use colorful tape in hair extensions to freshen your hairdo up. For the tutorial of applying tape in hair extensions, click in Tape In Hair Extensions Technique. You can also skip this step if you have highlights or ombre hair.
Step 3: Create the left twist. Pull your hair back and grab a section of hair on the left above your ear. Twist the section of hair tightly, and then pin the twist vertically to hold it in place.
Step 4: Repeat twisting with the hair on the right. Repeat the twist like step 3, but with the hair on the right. Make sure to place the twist direct next to the first one with bobby pin.
Step 5: Create a lower twist with hair on the right. Grab all your hair below your second twist to create the third one and pin to secure it.
Step 6: Create a small braid. Grab hair below your left ear to create a basic braid.
Step 7: Wrap the braid around hair at the nape of your neck. Gather all your hair at the nape of your neck together and wrap it around with your braid. Pin the braid in place underneath your ponytail to hold the braid and the ponytail in place.
Notes & Tips
- The hairstyle is great for second day hair, because your twists work better in staying in place if compared with smooth and clean hair.
- Finish with some hairspray to make twists hold better.
