Is air drying hair as easy as letting your tresses dry freely and casually? Don’t be so silly! Of course, there are some God-blessing ladies who have gorgeous locks almost requiring no hair care. But, you are not the lucky guy, so you need to take good care of your hair to make it healthy and beautiful.
Speaking of air drying your hair, here I would like to share 4 steps provided by Lauren McCowan, an Australian hairstylist and Evo Hair Products creative director. These are so effective in helping achieve a natural hair look and avoid unnecessary hair damage happening in air dry.
Step 1: Start from gently squeezing excess water from your hair using a microfiber towel
Why not selecting traditional shower towels? According to McCowan, using the traditional one can roughen hair cuticles, create frizz and knot your hair. When towel drying your hair, press your microfiber towel firmly into your hair to absorb water instead of rubbing the towel back and forth over your hair.
Step 2: Apply a little leave-in conditioner to preserve moisture and close hair cuticle
To avoid undesired fluffy, frizzy look, a great leave-in conditioner is essential, according to McCowan. She suggests using Evo’s Day of Grace, a light hold, leave-in hairspray with UV protection which creates a perfect base for other hair products without adding heaviness or greasiness to your strands.
Step 3: Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to apply the leave-in product through your hair
After detangling your hair with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, work the leave-in product through your hair. Before the applying, make sure that your hair is still a little bit wet. It is important to make an even applying to ensure your hair dries evenly and with minimal frizz.
Step 4: Finish with a light hair product
If you have fine hair, it is suggested that you select a light, volumizing product so that you can refresh or hold the air-dried hair better. For naturally straight hair, a good shine spray can make bedhead hair smooth. In terms of thick and wavy hair, the spritzing of leave-in styling product on the hair and scrunch can help get rid of frizz.
